It’s been a long while since the last update. Here at team Hexes & Ohs, we like to make our updates count. We’re happy to announce the US release of our latest album “Bedroom Madness”! The critically acclaimed album is now available at major American retailers as well as iTunes. If your local record store doesn’t have it, make them order it! We even dropped some serious bucks to publicize on Pitchfork.com.
The other big news is that we’re heading for 3 dates in Spain. This will be our maiden voyage to the other side of the ocean so we’re totally psyched. Here are our upcoming dates:
February 12th: @ le Divan Orange, Montreal, QC. with vitaminsforyou
March 11th: @ Sala Wurlitzer Ballroom, Madrid, Spain
March 12th: @ 12 Y Medio, Murcia, Spain
March 13th: @ Razzmatazz (Popbar), Barcelona, Spain
SHARE (remixes) is a compilation of eight remixed tracks, available exclusively through new Montreal web label Lazy at Work.
This EP is a first for the band as it’s a remix collection featuring collaborations between us and seven of our admired fellow Canadians friends. Unlike typical remix albums, SHARE (remixes) is a two way street. The EP contains remixed tracks by Montag, Vitaminsforyou, DT666 (aka Patrick Pentland), and OPOPO, plus remixes by Hexes of songs from Sloan, The Bicycles and Camaromance. The result is a sort of dialogue between the artists. It’s colorful and diverse, but unified by the common ingredient of having Hexes presence on each track.
The remix EP is now available on iTunes:
Or you can stream the whole thing free, and/or pay what you can to download on our bandcamp page:
Band Foto is a show on AUX TV that invites bands to do photoshoots and documents the whole thing. We got to do one, it was a whole lot of fun getting pampered for a day.
I’ll be doing some synth improv at an event called “Catalogue” this year at Pop Montreal, currated by Montag. It happens October 1st at l’espace réunion (6600 rue Hutchison, Montreal) Here’s a little description: Continue reading ‘Catalogue @ Pop Montreal’
The new video for “Little Bird” is here! It was shot in Richmond Hill, or near there, I’m terrible at remembering where things are. The whole thing was shot in one day with the Reactiv Pictures team and some fine actors. The fine folks who owned the house you see in the vid were kind enough to lend us their backyard and their bathroom. It was a bit grueling under the hot sun but it was also a whole lot of fun. I got to punch our friend Greg (the boyfriend) in the face which I’ve been waiting a long time to do. I’m kidding of course.
Long time no post. We’ve been busy. We have a remix EP coming out and Bedroom Madness is coming out in the US, all happening in September. It’s not just regular old remix album, it’s more of a collaboration. In addition to commissioning remixes, we’ve done some of our own for some of our friends. We’re excited about each one and they’re all so different, which is kind of the point of these things right? Also, we’ll be shooting a new video for “Little Bird” in August, once again with “H-H-Highschool” director Alon Isocianu. Not gonna spoil it, but I will say that Edmund gets the shit beaten out of him. That oughta make some of the haters happy.
Tune into IndiMusicTV on May 9th to see our animated music video for “Wildfire!”. I believe this will be our american TV debut. The show broadcasts to the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut).
Oh and here are some interviews we did recently, one for Oiseaux Exotiques, the other for ArtisticThings.com, who had some very kind words to say about us! We are not worthy! Check them out here:

Carla and Lynette Gillis, formerly of Halifax cult favorites Plumtree have a new project called Sister. I have only heard one Sister song so far, a cover of Eric’s Trip’s “viewmaster”, I was pretty into it. I’m guessing their original material will be quite enjoyable as well. We will find out soon enough as we’re playing with them tonight in Montreal at the Green Room. If you are in Montreal, come see for yourself. Both Heidi and I are psyched for the show as we were both very big Plumtree fans, Heidi would probably list them in her top 10 of all time.
